Calling... Youtubers!

If any of you with Youtube accounts wouldn't mind popping by www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAHUvu… and rating and/or commenting, it would be greatly appreciated.

Justina Chen Headley, author of North of Beautiful, is hosting a Find Beauty Challenge. For each video she receives, she's donating 10$ to cleft lip and palate reconstructive surgery in third world countries.

Now, the other part of the contest is the video that does the best gets an iPod Touch! (And I could really use one.) So, take a second and hop by www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAHUvu… to vote (by rating/commenting)! Thanks in advance ;)

1 Year dA-versary ( Pi Day!)

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 14, 2009, 6:38 PM
Thanks for visiting!

O Special Day!

Today is a special day. March 14. 3.14 aka "Pi Day"! It's also been exactly one month since my last post. It's odd - we've had two Friday the 13th's in a row this year. Hopefully nothing too bad happened to you guys on those days ;)

But today is also deltay's one year dA anniversary! (Technically I've been on dA for way longer than that, just not on this account - this was a recreation of sorts.) Pretty exciting, isn't it? Except it doesn't really feel like it's already been a whole year.

Spring Break

Spring Break started! Unfortunately I'm pretty sick right now, and I'm not up for doing anything, really, but hopefully that'll pass fast. Somehow, I get the feeling that this week will be far from a "break", probably super busy regardless. Hopefully I'll get some time to do some new photoshoots though - it's been way too long! And I've got some ideas brewing, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

How...random.

In other news, I've somehow managed to go and rekindle my guitar obessession; now I really want to learn how to play. Like, now. *sigh* Talk about bad timing... maybe I should just hold on a few more months until the summer...

Love Day

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 14, 2009, 1:06 PM
Thanks for visiting!

Wooh-pie!

Ahoy 2009!

I'm pretty excited - once again a subbed user of dA. Oh, 120 dev/pg viewing, how I hath missed thee! Recently, Twist Tie by deltay placed first in catsagecat's New Model category of Respect the Model Week Contest. Big thanks to :iconcatsagecat: for the three month sub!

Today is also February the Fourteenth, so Happy Valentine's Day! (or SAD - Singles Awareness Day - depending.)

But February Fourteenth is something more than just a commercial holiday. It's a day of expressing love and affection. (& this year, it came after a "Friday the 13th") Teenage emotions can be somewhat of a roller coaster ride at times; today is one of the worst days, especially for those dealing with depression, and the consequences of this, such as self-harm, etc.

TWLOHA  (To Write Love On Her Arms) - Check it out if you don't know yet what it is. Depression is a topic that's very close to me personally. So today - although you should do this all the time, but especially today - let someone you love know how you feel. It doesn't take very much time or effort; just let them know that you're there, that you care. It could make a huge difference.

Now get out there and start sharing the love.

I figured I might as well do something with the extra out-takes I'm never going to use, so, without further ado, new stock account: deltaystock

Have a great day all, it's good to be back!

In Awe

It feels like it's been ages since I've signed up for dA, and at the same time, like it was just yesterday. But then again, it has been pretty hectic so perhaps that contributed to the warped sense of time.

In any case, beyond differences has reached 100 :+fav:s and needless to say I'm pretty ecstatic about that, in addition to the :+fav:s and fabulous feedback on my work. So here's to everyone who's shown support by commenting, :+fav:ing, :+devwatch:ing; Thank You! I sincerely appreciate it all.

Nearly New

Kind of hard to believe, really, that 2008 is nearly over. But that also means that 2009 is nearly here, which will be new and exciting, and doubtless provide numerous new challenges. Hopefully I'll have more time to delve into the world of photography and purse some other interests which I've been meaning to try, but it doesn't seem like the chaos will be slowing down much any time soon. Hope for the best though, right?

But know what else [2009] means?

Let's Aim for the Moon, because then even if we miss, we'll land among the Stars

Let's try harder
Let's be better
Let's see wider
Let's hear more
Let us let it all in, let it all out
Let's shout it out, let's whisper it soft,
Let's live life and let live

Together, everyone, as one, let's accomplish something.

Farewell, November~

'Lo and Behold</i>
Tomorrow is the first day of December - kind of hard to belive, really. One more month of 2008, one last month's worth of chances to make it count.

So as it turned out, NaNoWriMo this year was pretty much an epic fail again, capping off at just under 10K words. Still, it's progress over last year, and it has been really busy lately. In fact, there were pretty much no photoshoots at all this month; the one photo uploaded yesterday, are we the waiting? was actually shot in June and August.

are we the waiting? by deltay

Needin' some Gear
As the holiday season is coming up, I'm kind of hoping to get a DSLR and/or a tripod, sort of try to take the photographpy to a new level type of concept. Currently, I'm shooting with a 4MP Canon, and suffice to say an upgrade would be nice. And of course, any support through either dA prints (note me if there's any in particular that you would like that aren't prints yet) or the cafepress store (see above for link) would be appreciated. On another note, in consideration of DSLRs, what do you guys use personally? Would recommend?

And without further ado...
My dA subscription is about to run out this week, so this may be the last [journal] feature for a while. I think I'm going to rather miss have customized journals and 120 dev/page viewing, etc. And here they are:

Halloween
Hope everyone had a great Halloween last night, whether you went trick-or-treating, handed out candy, or otherwise. Unfortunately, a whole year to wait until the next one.

NaNoWriMo 08
On the other hand, today is the first day of November, and you know what that means. NaNoWriMo 08 officially kicked off this morning at precisely midnight - approximately eighteen hours ago. So here I am, plotless, characterless, and novel-less (officially, anyway). Quite the dilemna - to NaNo, or not to NaNo. I mean, school's going to be really hectic already, and time constraints have been tight enough on photography as it is. But then again, maybe personally, the goal this year isn't even to get that 50K, but to beat last year.

Is anyone else out there participating this year?

Photography costs dough
I'm really hoping to upgrade my equipment soon as well - my 4.0MP Canon just doesn't really suffice anymore, and getting a tripod would be nice too. Any sort of support through Baldees or dA prints would be awesome.

A Month for Procrasination? No Way!
NaNoWriMo '08 is nearly upon us - I'm still debating whether or not to participate this year, but it seems more likely that I'm leaning in favour of, despite how hectic it'll be next month. But it's a once-a-year event, so why not? Who else is doing it this year?

Update
Did some random shooting recently, got a large load of post-processing to go through, but hopefully some new works will be up soon. :)

un petit problème
So guess what I've just realized. My cell phone isn't compatible with my computer operating system. (I have Windows Vista.) And of course, contacting the service provider did no good, other than "you'll have to contact the manufacturer." Nor did the website have the corresponding driver software for download. Any suggestions?

bigger and better... or simply more?
Is it just me, or does everything seem... different these days? It's been really hectic, but it seems like there's a lot more books to add to the ever-growing list of ones to read. A lot more cliched ones, granted, but the list of interesting ones grows as well. And that paragraph probably did not make a whole lot of coherent sense. Ah well.

And on dA as well! It seems like the number of deviations that I'm :+fav:ing or commenting these days seems unnaturally high. But then again, I have been trying to give feedback to deviations in the 'Newest' list as well.

share and show!
It's that time again! About half a month since the last one, and now it's time to share some other deviations:

The world goes round...
First off, I figured I'd give this a boost in this journal and hope that it does some good. FreeRice.com is, basically, a win-win situation. For every word that you get right, [the website] donates twenty grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to help end world hunger. Hop on over and check it out!

Write what?
Recently I've submitted my first piece of writing to dA, a short poem based on Picasso's The Old Guitarist for getLIT's You are Invited to Write #2 contest. I was very pleased to find myself among four who won a three-month subscription. Very nice timing as well, as it picked up right where my last sub ran out. In celebration of that, let's share the love and feature some more deviations!

Update, update, what's going on?
The die is cast, there's no going back. Settling in a bit, a fair number of images to go through and process. Got some really breathtaking shots from the plane, beautiful images of sunsets above the clouds, so look for those sometime in the near future. Other than that, there's a lot to get used to here.

The whole Baldees/Shoona thing has hit another snag; alas, for the immediate future [the official launch] has once again been delayed.

On the bright side, I've managed to gather some more awesome deviations for another feature. Enjoy:

An Update!
I'd actually been hoping to get a lot more images up this month, but it's been really hectic with packing (boxes everywhere!) and so far the only new piece is Beacon (see gallery). I'm thinking that I'll just process the other images along with the new batch that I'll (hopefully) shoot along the way.

In Other News
Needless to point out, the whole Baldees thing isn't working out quite exactly as planned (and on top of that, a new concept of a line, Shoona, has been added. Hopefully something of all this jumbled up mess will come to fruitation soon. (Wish me luck lol)

Got a move coming up soon (that should tip you off a little, Okamitsu), so hopefully there'll be a lot of new images to process and subsequently, more updates.

Happy 8th Birthday, dA!

Not a lot of things have been going as originally planned lately, which is, needless to say, quite sad. Baldees launch has been delayed yet again, which is a rather large personal disappointment. (See blog/site for the background info if you're scratching your head like a chimpanzee in confusion at this.)

However, the weather outside has been simply delightful, and I couldn't resist doing a couple [nature] photoshoots, espeically with it being Earth Month and whatnot. Over the past three days, I've taken 170 photographs, give or take a few. Of course, a rather miniscule percentage of these will actually end up as polished products, but nevertheless, they're updates to look for in the coming days.

Nearly had a rather large mishap today, as a matter a fact. As I was finishing up "Pine for Me" (see gallery), the computer froze on me, and remained in such a state until the screen went completely black and stayed that way for the better part of an hour. But alas, a pull of the plug and sticking it back in fixed the problem rather nicely.

It's been busy, and as far as I can forsee thus far, it'll remain so for a fair while, but hopefully some updates are in order for the near future, such as the launch of Baldees, new projects [in terms of photography], and the completion of my current script in progress.

Hello all!

First journal entry on dA; seems like a pretty monumental milestone, doesn't it? Thus, it's rather fitting that today is an important day. March 14th. Which is also 3.14, and 3.14 is.... you guessed it: Pi.
